Han factory LG invested 650 million US dollars to build a new panel


Hanwha LG Display announced that it plans to invest 727 billion won, about 650 million US dollars, to build a new panel factory in Paju, South Korea, which is expected to be completed in Q4 2011.

LGD states that the company will evaluate the market conditions and decide the point in time for mass production. This expansion is to increase the production capacity of the 8th generation LCD panel production line in Paju. It is expected to start production in 2011, mainly producing 32-inch, 47-inch and 55-inch LCD panels.

On the other hand, LGD also said that the long-term demand growth of LED-backlit LCD panels and 3D LCD panels has also accelerated.

LG Display said that the investment of 1.5 trillion won (about 1.3 billion US dollars) of new production lines will start production in the first half of next year, it will mainly produce large-size TV screen panels.

In addition to the proposed production line, LG Display will have a new production line to be put into operation in the first half of this year. In addition, it plans to invest USD 4 billion to build a plant in China. The relevant plans are awaiting approval from relevant departments.
