A new breakthrough in the preparation of red phosphors, developed by researchers from the Changchun Institute of Applied Chemistry of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has enabled LEDs to be used more widely in lighting, display and backlights. The field has further laid the foundation and recently obtained the national invention patent authorization.

According to reports, LED is widely regarded as the most promising next-generation lighting method with its advantages of energy saving, durability and pollution-free. At present, there are various solutions for realizing white LEDs, in which blue LED chips and yellow phosphors are combined to realize white light emission, which is the most mature technical solution for preparing white LEDs. However, the white light synthesized by the method lacks red light in the spectrum, has a low color rendering index, and has low light efficiency, so that it is not possible to play the role of LED illumination in general illumination. One solution is to use white, red, green and blue luminescent materials to be excited by a blue LED chip to produce white light, but currently the red luminescent material that can be excited by blue LEDs is lacking.
Changchun Yinghua's "Red Phosphor for Light-Emitting Diodes and Preparation Method", a red phosphor is prepared with phosphate as the matrix, and the excitation band and nitridation of the phosphor are prepared by using ruthenium as an activator. The emission peaks of the gallium source overlap well, and can be effectively excited by the blue gallium nitride source to generate red light emission. At the same time, the preparation method of the red phosphor is simple, the raw material is cheap and easy to obtain, the production cost is low, the product is chemically stable, easy to grind, and does not cause harm to the environment. Therefore, the red phosphor of the novel light-emitting diode provided by the invention has important application value.
