GT Solar (SOLR) announced today that it has received two first sapphire crystallization systems with a total value of more than $84 million. The order comes from Jiangsu Jixing New Material Co., Ltd and Jiujiang赛赛科技有é™å…¬å¸. The two orders have an annual production capacity of approximately 8 million pieces of two-inch equivalent (TIE) sapphire substrates.
According to GT Solar, Jiangsu Jixing New Material Co., Ltd. and Jiujiang赛赛科技有é™å…¬å¸ are leading PV manufacturers and affiliates of GT Solar's long-term PV customers. They will use sapphire crystallization equipment in their company's new facility and prepare for the expected growth opportunities in the LED market in the coming years by building facilities that produce high-quality, large-area sapphire substrates. These early customers will target the high-brightness LED market.
