Volvo XC60 is the safest luxury SUV, and the new car is expected to be sold for 359,900.

The new Volvo XC60 is set to make a big splash in the second half of this year. This model can be considered as a smaller version of the XC90, and it's expected to bring a fresh look and advanced technology to the market. Big Lion has always admired Volvo owners for their thoughtful and stylish choices, and the new XC60 is sure to impress with its design and features. It will officially launch in December this year, starting at 358,900 yuan, making it a competitive option in the luxury SUV segment. One of the key highlights of the new XC60 is its platform—the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). This flexible platform allows for various chassis setups, making it ideal for medium-sized and larger vehicles. The interior space can be easily adjusted based on the vehicle’s purpose. Alongside the XC90 and XC60, future models like the S60 and V60 will also be built on this platform. This not only helps reduce development costs but also ensures consistent quality and innovation across the lineup. As a result, features like LED headlights are becoming more standard, and we're seeing a shift toward more advanced lighting systems. In terms of powertrain options, the new XC60 offers multiple configurations, including automatic start-stop, hybrid, and fully electric variants. At the same time, the use of high-strength boron steel contributes to a lighter yet stronger body structure, enhancing both performance and safety. This focus on weight reduction and material innovation reflects Volvo’s commitment to building safer and more efficient vehicles. The exterior of the XC60 comes in two distinct styles: the standard version and the R-Design sports edition. Both versions will be available after domestic production, though the exact dimensions of the extended model are still unclear. The new car will feature “Quake’s Hammer” LED headlights and Viking Tomahawk-style taillights, giving it a bold and modern appearance. The R-Design variant stands out with its large air intake, adding a sporty flair that appeals to enthusiasts. Inside, the XC60 mirrors the design of the S90, offering a clean and elegant Nordic aesthetic. The materials used are soft and high-quality, with attention to detail in stitching and overall finish. Safety remains a top priority, with the introduction of the new City Safety system. The cabin is equipped with a full LCD instrument cluster and a large multimedia display, while the top trim includes a premium Baohua Weijian audio system. However, the Nordic design does have some limitations. While the seats are comfortable and supportive, they may feel a bit narrow for some passengers. The seat width could be improved for better comfort during long trips. Additionally, the backrest angle and seat length of the rear seats are designed for optimal comfort, but the inclusion of seat ventilation would further enhance the experience. Under the hood, the XC60 offers three powertrain options: T5, T6, and T8. All models use a 2.0L turbocharged engine, with the T5 and T6 offering different power outputs. The T8 version adds an electric motor, creating a hybrid system that boosts performance and efficiency. The T5 delivers 254 hp and 350 Nm of torque, while the T6 produces 320 hp and 400 Nm. All trims come with an 8-speed automatic transmission, ensuring smooth and responsive driving. Perhaps the most significant upgrade is the new chassis setup. The front suspension uses a double wishbone design, which improves handling compared to the previous MacPherson setup. The rear suspension features a multi-link system with a leaf spring made from transverse glass fiber—similar to truck suspensions. This innovative approach reduces weight by 12%–15% and frees up more space inside the cabin, making the XC60 more practical without sacrificing performance.
