Do a good job of chart coloring to make data more dazzling!

In order to make your own report better, we need to color the Excel chart. However, after all, everyone is not a professional. For the color matching of charts, ordinary people can hardly make professional color schemes other than simply filling colors or applying templates. But on the Internet or in many professional magazines, we can still see a lot of tall color schemes. Now with the help of color matching, we can transplant professional color matching effects onto our own charts.

Point and click, use Colorpix to extract color

The professional color matching emphasizes the combination of three basic colors of RGB, and Colorpix can easily extract the specific color matching values. By extracting the color of the professional charts, we can immediately make the charts become tall. For example, to create a professional color pie chart in Excel, you can first search through Baidu, Google, etc., for screenshots of professional magazines and websites, and then download the map to save it locally (Figure 1).

For example, the picture above is a typical pie chart, if you need to refer to its color. First enter your own data in Excel, then click "Insert → Chart → Pie" to select a pie chart that matches the reference map. After starting the insertion of the picture, start Colorpix, expand the drop-down menu and select "run on the top" so that it always runs at the top of the program. Use the mouse to click on the color matching area of the original image, so that the color RGB value will appear on the interface of Colorpix. Select the desired color and press the up arrow key on the keyboard to fix the color value (Figure 2).

Return to the Excel window, click on the relevant area of the desired color chart, right-click and select "fill → other fill color", in the pop-up window to switch to "custom", then select RGB in color mode, followed by the RGB display on the Colorpix interface The numerical value is input so that the color displayed in the block area will be consistent with the color matching on the sample picture (Figure 3).

Figure 3 Using the extracted color fill

The operation is the same as above, continue to select other areas that need to be filled in and fill in the RGB values obtained by Colorpix, so that the color of your own chart can be the same as the color of the professional chart.

hint:

For drawings on paper magazines, solid flyers, and other objects, if you want to extract the color, we can use a camera, scanner, etc. to obtain digital photos, and then use it to import Excel. However, note that the color of the imported photo may be slightly distorted. You can drag the slider after entering the RGB value to fine-tune the color so that the color match is consistent with the original image.

PPT+Excel Help Each Other

The above method needs to install Colorpix before it can be implemented. For users who have already installed the Office 2016 suite, PowerPoint 2016 already contains a color picking component. We can directly use the components to extract the sample color.

Id find my favorite color picture and insert it into PPT's new slide. I also copy and paste the chart that needs to be color-matched in Excel into PPT, and put the two pictures in parallel (Figure 4).

After selecting the color picker, click on the selected sample image area and click to select the desired color. The parameters of this color match are automatically read by the PPT and the RGB values of the corresponding colors are displayed. Continue to switch to the inserted Excel chart and click on the area to be colored, so that the extracted color is automatically filled (Figure 6).

After completing the filling of all colors, copy and paste the completed color chart into Excel. In this way, the color picker can be more professional in his own color chart.

The above method needs to create a chart insertion in Excel, fill in the desired color, and then paste it back into Excel before it can be used. If it is only used for presentation, you can also click "Insert → Chart → Pie Chart" directly in PPT. In this way, you can directly generate pie charts in PPT and continue to input the required data in the Excel data column that pops up. The other operations are the same as above, so that the color of the chart can be directly completed in the PPT (Figure 7).

hint:

In addition to PPT comes with color picker components, the system's own "painting" also has similar components, but the color picking components and PPT can not be used to move to other program window, and the color chart completed in the painting is not editable . If it is only for display or printing, we can also finish the color matching in the drawing. The operation is the same as above. First, the Excel-generated charts and sample pictures are all posted to the drawing program. Then, click on the “take color” button of the drawing to select the desired color on the sample picture, and then use the fill button to fill in the desired colors. Excel can intercept the chart (Figure 8).
