Konka will cut into LED lighting
Konka's LED screen built in Pangu Daguan Square near Beijing's Water Cube is about 3,000 square meters. It consists of 7 LED screens and the largest one is 900 square meters. Konka, Assistant General Manager of Konka Video Systems Engineering Co., Ltd. told this reporter that Konka has been involved in LEDs since 2003 and has been doing LED display screens before. This year, it decided to increase the position of LED in the whole company, and increased the operating capital of the LED business by more than 100 million yuan, because the industry customers have increased demand for LEDs after the Olympics. Thunder said that Konka video is now mainly for indoor and outdoor LED display, and then will be LED lighting, LED backlights for LCD TVs will also be considered.
According to Konka's semi-annual report, the sales revenue of LED display in the first half of the year was 144 million yuan. Although the proportion of Konka's total revenue in the first half of the year was 5.6 billion yuan, it had a gross profit margin of 34.88% and an increase of 215.8 over the same period of last year. %. Xiao Jia, director of Konka Dongfang, said that LED has become one of the key industries cultivated by Konka.
Changhong LED display will be exported
Changhong has been involved in the LED field in 1999. At the beginning, it was mainly research and development, and only made a small number of products. Liu Qiang, general manager of Sichuan Changhong Electronic System Co., Ltd., told this reporter that Changhong has increased its investment in the LED industry this year. In July, I participated in the IFA exhibition in Germany. Customers in Northern Europe, Central Europe and Southern Europe placed orders for LED displays on Changhong. Changhong LED products will enter overseas this year and next year.
The LED market is mature. Liu Qiang believes that LED screen can meet the needs of large screen, high brightness and active picture, which is very suitable for information release, advertising and urban lighting projects. Changhong is currently mainly engaged in LED multimedia display terminals, and will not intervene in LED lighting and LED backlights for the time being.
Hisense produces LED backlights
Color TV giant Hisense has taken the lead in cutting into the field of LED backlights. Yu Haitao, director of the news public relations office of Qingdao Hisense Electric (600060, shares) Co., Ltd. told this reporter that the Hisense Phase II LCD module production line, which was put into production in August this year, has been able to produce LED backlight modules. LED backlight is the development direction of liquid crystal (LCD) TV backlight, which has obvious advantages compared with the current CCFL backlight, which makes LCD TV more power-saving and higher dynamic contrast.
TCL has also been involved in LED displays, backlights, landscape lighting, street lights, etc.
In fact, the two largest LCD panel suppliers in Taiwan, AUO and Chi Mei, have also invested in LED factories. Since they can't digest their huge production capacity by simply doing LED backlights, they will also extend to LED lighting in the future.
Zhang Guangping, general manager of Asia Research Information Consulting (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., said that Konka and Changhong are doing outdoor LED display, and Hisense is doing LED backlights. They are all extending the industrial chain. The direction is right, but successful. Whether it depends on the supporting factors. If Konka still does LED lighting, it means entering a new industry. Whether it can be applied to past technologies or channels will lead to a success or failure. After all, many companies in the LED lighting industry are currently competing.
Gu Dewen, general manager of Shenzhen Jingge Century Semiconductor Co., Ltd., who has been working as an LED driver chip, believes that to do a good job in the LED industry, not only must there be money, but also the key to technology and talent. At present, there are hundreds of LED packaging companies in China, and LED upstream technologies such as epitaxial wafers and silicon crystals are still lacking.
