LiFi is going to commercialize multiple industries or will reshuffle

In May 2013, Tsinghua University and Qinshang Optoelectronics signed an LED wireless optical communication project, throwing a new term “LED wireless optical communication” to the public. At the time, the public was relatively unfamiliar with the term, or knew that its name was unknown. In October of the same year, Fudan University reported good news, LED visible light communication technology was successfully implemented in the laboratory of its computer science and technology college. The researchers connected the network signal to a 1W LED bead. The four computers under the light can access the Internet. The maximum speed is 3.25G and the average Internet speed is 150M. It is the world's fastest “lighting Internet”. For a time, the news of “Fudan University’s realization of lighting on the Internet” went without a hitch. Subsequently, news about visible light communication technology flooded, and LiFi was completely raging.

The concept of visible light communication was not available in 2013. In fact, as early as 2000, Tanaka et al. of Keio University in Japan and Haruyama of the SONY Institute of Computer Science proposed an indoor communication system that uses LED lights as communication base stations for wireless transmission of information. In 2002, Tanaka and Komine et al. carried out a detailed analysis of the LED visible light communication system, and in the same year officially proposed a data transmission system combining power line carrier communication and LED visible light communication. Time flies, researchers have never given up research, and finally at the Tokyo International Electronics Show in October 2008, Japan's Taiyo Yuden Company exhibited the world's first white LED communication system to the world. At that time, its maximum transmission distance was only 20cm. Although this distance was quite short, at the time, it was truly a unique innovation!

Look at the domestic visible light communication research. In 2006, Peking University first proposed a wide-angle view visible light signal receiving scheme based on wide-angle lens, and carried out a series of theoretical and experimental work. In 2008, following the first public display of the white LED communication system by the Japanese company, Chen Changzhen, a professor at Jinan University, developed the first white light LED visible light communication prototype in China with a transmission distance of more than 2.5 meters. However, it was not until 2013 that “Fudan University realized the LED lighting on the Internet” news, the LED transmission network was truly presented to the domestic public.

After Japan and China, European countries have also demonstrated visible light communication research. In 2009, Brien and others at Oxford University used equalization technology to achieve a communication rate of 100 Mbit/s. The following year, they exhibited an indoor visible light communication demonstration system, which used 16 white LED communication to complete 4-channel HD video real-time broadcasting. . By 2010, researchers at the Fraunhofer Henrich Hertz InsTItute laboratory in Germany increased this communication rate to 513 Mbit/s, setting a world record for visible light communication rates at the time. At that time, visible light communication was not called LiFi, but VLC (Visible Light CommunicaTIon). Until 2011, Professor Harald Haas of the University of Edinburgh demonstrated how LED light bulbs with signal processing technology can transmit high-definition video to a computer and name visible light communication LiFi (Light Fidelity). In October 2013, researchers from a number of UK universities flipped LiFi's communication rates to as high as 10 Gb/s.
