US SuperTech introduces a high precision current control LED driver (Figure)

On July 9, Supertex, Inc. released a new average current mode controlled LED driver chip HV9961. The device improves device accuracy very well, linear load regulation LED current does not require any loop compensation or side current sensing, and the output current accuracy is +/- 3%. The IC features a current-limited comparator with output short-circuit protection and PWM, linear dimming input characteristics. It has an input voltage from 8.0v to 450V and can be used to control the PWM input with a TTL-compatible external signal. The output current is controlled by an internal 272mV reference setting or linear dimming adjustment.
Due to its wide input voltage, it is suitable for a variety of LED lighting, such as street lights, architectural lights, decorative lights, industrial lights and LCD backlight displays.

The HV9961 is available in SOIC-8 and SOIC-16 packages. Figure 1 shows the typical application circuit of the HV9961.
