LUMEX launches narrow beam, up to 100cd high intensity SMT LED

Lumex, the American manufacturer, introduced the QuasarBrite narrow-beam SMT LED, which provides high-intensity red, green and blue dense beams. Compared to traditional SMT LEDs, QuasarBrite narrow-beam SMT LEDs reduce beam angle by 93% for medical applications such as dense light and high-intensity light, safety equipment, sensors and other lighting applications.

Lumex Engineering Director Jeff Oliveros said that while traditional SMT LEDs have many advantages, they do not provide a narrow beam without the use of external light sources. Traditional SMT LEDs offer beam ranges from 45 to 85 degrees. However, the QuasarBrite narrow-beam SMT LEDs provide a range of light beams between 6 and 10 degrees, reducing beam angles by up to 93%.

The QuasarBrite narrow-beam SMT LED can be mounted upside down directly into a built-in parabolic reflector to produce high-intensity light in a narrow beam without the need for an external source. As a result, QuasarBrite narrow-beam SMT LEDs can save 50% in cost and 50% on substrates compared to traditional SMT LEDs that use dense light beams with external sources.

The built-in parabolic reflector also calibrates the astigmatism into a beam of light, thus allowing ordinary LEDs with a standard energy consumption of 75 mW or less to emit high-intensity light. A typical SMT may produce 1 cd of brightness at a 45 degree viewing angle; a QuasarBrite narrow beam SMT LED can produce light intensities up to 100 cd from a 6 degree viewing angle.

QuasarBrite narrow-beam SMT LEDs certified by RoHs Green include 4 mm (providing a beam angle of 12 to 22 degrees), 6 mm (a beam angle of 14 to 24 degrees) and 8 mm (a beam angle of 14 to 18 degrees) Different sizes.
