It is reported that Li Wei of the Yangtze River opened the only domestic LCOS miniature virtual display chip design and manufacturing and its liquid crystal screen packaging production line in Shenzhen. LCOS is the abbreviation of English Liquid Crystal On Silicon (liquid crystal silicon), is a new display technology organically combined with liquid crystal display technology and semiconductor large-scale integrated circuit technology, namely the third generation of display technology. It is reported that to achieve the superposition of Google Glass virtual image and real vision, the core display technology is LCOS micro virtual display technology. The microdisplay is the largest component of the cost of smart glasses.

According to Kang Gang, Deputy General Manager of Changjiang Liwei, there are currently only three companies in the world that have mastered LCOS chip design and screen packaging core technologies, including US DISPLAYTECH and HIMAX in Taiwan, and the only one in mainland China is Li Wei of the Yangtze River.

Dr. Dai Yongping, chief scientist of Li Wei of the Yangtze River, said that at present, only Lijiang Liwei has independently developed LCOS display chips. The company has invested more than 80 million yuan to improve the hardware facilities, and has established a LCOS screen packaging production line in Shenzhen, successfully producing a series of single-chip color LCOS screen. This move enabled Lijiang Changjiang to become one of the world's three largest LCOS monolithic color virtual display chip manufacturers and suppliers.

The industry generally believes that LCOS display technology has unlimited potential and will be used in more and more promising terminal products. Google's smart glasses are just one of them. Kang Gang indicated that there is an industry authoritative organization predicting that from 2014 to 2015, the end product market of LCOS technology will reach 240 billion yuan, and the core technology market of LCOS display chip will reach 10 billion yuan.

Changjiang Liwei Company was established in 2011. It was jointly initiated by Shenzhen Liwei Digital Technology Co., Ltd. and Wuhan Changjiang Communications Industry Group, with a registered capital of RMB 180 million. The company is a national high-tech enterprise specializing in the research and development of LCOS virtual display chip core technology, LCOS display production and application program development and industrial integration.

Kang Gang told reporters that Li Weiyi's LCOS miniature virtual display chip technology stems from the 863 project that the company has undertaken and has completed. Around this topic, Li Wei of the Yangtze River has received 89 patents, of which 80 are LCOS technology patents.

According to an authoritative forecast, LCOS display technology will dominate the market for microdisplay display due to its performance and cost advantages, and it is estimated that it will account for 80% of the total. Kang Gang indicated that with the increase in demand for personalized display, it can be foreseen that the market for new products represented by wearable personal information terminal products, projection mobile phones and video glasses will rapidly expand, and LCOS chip technology will play an important role in new markets. , and bring more imagination space for the future microdisplay market.

Based on its internationally leading LCOS technology, Changjiang Liwei has independently developed and put into production wearable electronic products such as pico projectors, 3D video glasses, and LCOS sports glasses. The company will also plan to build LCOS industrial clusters.
