Royal courtyard stair lighting design

The seaside path of the Royal William's Courtyard breaks the original impregnable wall and connects the western-style defensive area of the Royal Garden with the southwestern coastline – visitors to the southwestern coast of England can enter the historic navy through this dramatic staircase. Replenish the backyard.

The Royal William Garden was built in the 18th century to supply beer, rum, ship biscuits, and cured meat products to the entire Royal Navy fleet. It was one of the largest reconstruction plans in the Southwest since its closure in the 1990s.

Since 2005, the Gillespie Yunnie Architects has partnered with developer Urban Splash to build apartments, offices, shops and restaurants on the site. Due to its natural defensive nature and its position on the peninsula, the Royal William Garden has always been a dead end, so the staircase that connects the courtyard to the open green space on the peninsula has been an important part of the overall planning of the regeneration project.

The designer said: “Enabling bold contemporary design to connect two contrasting beachfront locations proves that our design direction is incomparably correct.” They are very aware of how amazing the local coastline is.

Stepping up the stairs from different directions, the journey will be very different: if you enter from the yard, you will see a staircase like a dark solid clod, close to the historic retaining wall.

On the road, walking on both sides are the cracks of tall and strong walls.

Only when you start climbing up the stairs, until the last minute you can see the panoramic view of the Tamar estuary and its opposite Cornwall on the hidden glass viewing platform.

If you enter from the park above, you must first find the entrance, which is located in the ruins of a sunken old military warehouse.

A steel “entrance” cuts off the huge wall, marking the beginning of the journey, and the first attraction appears in front of you as you step into a canoeing flight.

At night, the stairs will change again, and it is interesting to use the strip LED lights underneath the hidden armrests to constantly change the surface color of the entire staircase.

Just the right brightness, more than a glamorous, less than a bit too dark - both illuminate and consider the beauty, smashed the chilly old military station, also dotted with romantic seaside scenery.
