Vishay Releases New QPL Tantalum Niobium Film Chip Resistors

VISHAY low resistance 593D107X9016D2TE3 tantalum capacitor original spot

Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) introduced a new surface-mount chip resistor called the E/H (Ta₂N) QPL, which has passed the rigorous MIL-PRF-55342 qualification. This resistor features a failure rate of just 100 ppm at the "M" grade level. The E/H (Ta₂N) QPL resistors are manufactured using moisture-resistant tantalum nitride resistive film technology, making them ideal for critical defense and aerospace applications where reliability is paramount. They offer exceptional performance with 0.1% tolerance and a temperature coefficient of resistance (TCR) of 25ppm/°C.

These E/H (Taâ‚‚N) QPL resistors are particularly well-suited for control systems in environments where exposure to humidity or long-term storage is a concern. The tantalum nitride resistive layer provides moisture resistance that exceeds the MIL-PRF-55342 standard by more than 50 times, ensuring consistent performance even under harsh conditions.

The E/H (Ta₂N) Mil-PRF-55342 thin-film resistor delivers extremely low noise levels—less than -25 dB—and a voltage coefficient of just 0.5 ppm/V. The resistor's end caps are sealed with a highly viscous adhesive layer, while an electroplated nickel gate ensures stability under high-temperature conditions up to +150°C, with typical resistance values below 0.010 Ω.

The new resistors are available in M55342 dimensions ranging from 01 to 12, with power ratings from 50mW to 1000mW and operating voltages between 40V and 200V. Resistance values vary from 49.9Ω to 3.3MΩ depending on the specified tolerance. These components are now in volume production, with lead times ranging from eight to ten weeks.

Whether you're working on military-grade electronics, satellite systems, or high-reliability aerospace equipment, the E/H (Taâ‚‚N) QPL resistor offers a robust solution designed for extreme environments. With its advanced materials and strict quality standards, this resistor is a game-changer for engineers who demand precision and durability in their designs.
