Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has recently introduced a new line of positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistors with radial leads—TFPTL. These components are designed with a nickel film core, offering a PTC of +4110ppm/K, and they respond in under 2 seconds. Their high stability across a wide temperature range—from -55°C to +150°C—makes them ideal for various applications.
The TFPTL series is available in two sizes, with 2.5mm and 5.0mm lead spacing. They provide standard resistance values from 100 ohms to 5K ohms at +25°C (R25), with tolerances of ±1% and ±5%. Custom options are also available upon request. This flexibility allows engineers to tailor the components to their specific needs.
With long-term stability (typical drift <0.1%) and strong performance at high temperatures, the TFPTL thermistors are suitable for temperature sensing, detection, compensation, and control in both industrial and consumer environments. They can even replace silicon-based temperature sensors, making them a versatile choice for modern designs.
Applications include heating and cooling systems, motor drives, fan controls, power supplies, and a wide range of consumer electronics. The devices are UL listed in the U.S. and Canada, featuring a thin-film ceramic chip and tinned copper-clad steel wires. They meet RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU and WEEE 2002/96/EC standards, with an epoxy resin coating that meets UL 94 V-0 requirements.
Samples and production quantities are currently available, with lead times of ten weeks for larger orders. Whether you're looking to enhance your product's thermal management or reduce costs by replacing traditional sensors, the TFPTL series offers a reliable and high-performance solution.
