2011 global photovoltaic market revenue reached 91 billion US dollars

According to the “Clean Energy Trends Report 2012” published by Clean Edge, the global clean energy market has experienced heavy volume in 2011 despite economic, political and price barriers. Global solar photovoltaic, wind energy and bioenergy revenues rose by 31% to reach US$246.1 billion. In 2010, it was only US$188.1 billion. This increase was attributable to the double-digit growth rate achieved by the wind and solar market.

In particular, for the global PV market, which includes components, system components and project installations, revenue reached US$91.6 billion, compared with US$71.2 billion in 2010. The number of PV installations has grown by more than 69%, from 15.6GW in 2010 to 26GW in 2011. However, Clean Edge pointed out that although the overall growth trend of the solar market in 2011 is staggering, this year will leave the shadow of the bankruptcy of Solyndra forever.

Ron Pernick, co-founder and general manager of Clean Edge, said: “Last year's situation caught many cleantech companies off guard because the entire industry was implicated. But such an extremely wide-ranging blow missed the fact that most cleantech technologies are The more cost-competitive this is, is the core competitiveness of markets such as China, Japan and Germany, and has a great impact on the more unstable traditional energy forms."
