The LTE-V2X demonstration application project is launched, and the world's first urban-level vehicle-road collaboration platform has entered a comprehensive implementation stage

On May 3, the launch meeting of the major project of the Internet of Vehicles (LTE-V2X) urban-level demonstration application was held in Wuxi. The conference completed the formal signing of the Wuxi car networking city-level demonstration application project, and unveiled the work group of the major vehicle-level demonstration application project of the Internet of Vehicles (LTE-V2X), which means the world's first city-level vehicle-road collaboration platform Enter the stage of full implementation.

In September 2017, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Public Security, and the People ’s Government of Jiangsu Province jointly built a national comprehensive test base for intelligent transportation in Wuxi. The LTE-V2X Internet of Vehicles application test on a small scale was also unveiled during last year ’s Expo These have laid a good foundation for the development of Wuxi car networking applications. Combined with the advantages of the early development of Internet of Vehicles, the Wuxi Municipal Government and China Mobile, the Ministry of Public Security Traffic Management Research Institute, Huawei, the Wuxi Municipal Public Security Bureau Traffic Police Detachment, China Information and Communication Research Institute, Jiangsu Tianan Zhilian and other parties have gone through many in-depth After discussions and exchanges, it was decided to launch the LTE-V2X project in Wuxi, and today officially launched the construction of a large-scale urban-level Internet of Vehicles application.

It is reported that the planned implementation time of the project is from 2017 to the end of 2020, and the scale application of Wuxi intelligent connected vehicles will be realized in three phases:

1. The first phase of the project mainly carried out open road test research, collected and completed demonstration samples, which have basically been achieved, and also demonstrated during the 2017 World Expo;

2. The second phase of the project will realize city-level demonstration application, that is, the project officially launched in Wuxi today, will form a city-level scale application in Wuxi, which is planned to be completed in September 2018 (before this year's Expo will be held) to cover Wuxi There are 211 intersections and 5 elevated roads in the old city, Taihu New City, high-speed rail station, airport, Xuelang test site, etc., which serve 100,000 social vehicles.

After the completion of this phase of the project, typical application scenarios such as traffic light information push, speed guidance, ambulance priority access reminder, road event situation reminder, and tidal lane will be implemented in relevant road areas. This also makes full use of the global scheduling capabilities of the Internet of Vehicles platform, which can optimize the urban transportation system and enhance citizens' travel perception. The project implementation results will be officially unveiled to the public during the World Internet of Things Expo held in September 2018;

3. The third phase of the project will further build Wuxi into the nation's first Internet of Vehicles industrial base, covering the entire province of Jiangsu.

LTE-V2X Internet of Vehicles applications from theory to practice

Internationally, Huawei and Datang as the main rapporteurs submitted a standard application for the Internet of Vehicles (LTE-V2X) to the international communications standards organization 3GPP, and officially established the first international standard in 2017. Afterwards, 5GAA was established as an international organization across the telecommunications and automotive industries at the end of 2016, and has successively completed the release of the Internet of Vehicles (LTE-V2X) industry roadmap. It has formulated a full-chain industry specification from commercial use cases, network architecture to application platforms. As of April 2018, there were 84 member units, including 12 directors including China Mobile, Huawei, Audi, Ford, Intel, Vodafone, and telecommunications operators such as China Unicom, Deutsche Telekom, AT & T, and Japan docomo. Including Bosch, Continental, Denso and other top automotive suppliers.

As we all know, LTE-V2X is one of the main technical means for the realization of Internet of Vehicles applications. It integrates LTE mobile broadband and V2X direct connection technology. Through the Internet of Vehicles platform to achieve data and application communication, it can provide better people-vehicles. -Road-cloud collaboration and user experience. Compared with the traditional V2X technology, LTE-V2X has a wider propagation distance, shorter delay and greater communication capability, especially the reliability of multi-vehicle communication in high-density scenarios has been greatly improved, solving many traditional methods. The problem of limited capacity in vehicle scenarios; on the other hand, with the optimized mobile broadband network, LTE-V2X can freely connect to the Internet anytime, anywhere, and provide cloud and network collaboration with open data capabilities, such as road condition monitoring, remote warning, and information push. And other applications.

In the recent period, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Peugeot Citroen, Bosch, Continental and other auto industry companies have extensively developed Internet of Vehicles (LTE-V2X) with Vodafone, Deutsche Telekom, Deutsche Telekom, France Docomo, AT & T in Europe, Japan, and the United States. Test verification and external display have further promoted the maturity of the technology and the rapid development of the industry.

What is the significance of the demonstration project?

As the world's first city-level vehicle-road collaboration platform, the Internet of Vehicles (LTE-V2X) urban-level demonstration application major project has the following important significance after its completion in Wuxi:

1. LTE-V2X is China's leading wireless communication technology with independent intellectual property rights, and faces the future evolution of 5G-based Internet of Vehicles wireless communication technology;

2. As the only way for assisted driving to move towards autonomous driving, LTE-V2X technology has the ability to support advanced automatic driving, human-vehicle collaborative perception and control, and promote the construction of a more efficient and collaborative intelligent transportation system through the construction of a car networking platform. To make the road smarter and the car easier to run;

3. Attract the majority of motorists and drivers to actively participate in it. While promoting the convenience of smart transportation, it also contributes valuable traffic big data and continuously optimizes the intelligent driving experience.

Fourth, as a new generation of information technology for future smart transportation and Internet of Vehicles / Internet of Things, deep integration with industrial Internet, artificial intelligence, video surveillance, and cloud computing will provide more possibilities for exploration and development.

At present, in addition to the core sponsors, the first companies participating in the project include Audi China, China FAW, Ford, Changan Automobile, Volvo, Zotye Automobile, Guanzhi Automobile, Neusoft, Intel, Peugeot Citroen, Gaode Map, Dongfeng Motor . In the future, the project will continue to attract more industrial partners to participate in it. The major application demonstration projects will plan to complete the commercial launch of 13 major application scenarios, including traffic light information push / traffic speed guidance, and road traffic congestion reminders.
